Thirty-seven years at Intel, and almost half a lifetime in Lake Oswego.

A Start from the Ground Floor.

Born in England, Neil learned the value of hard work from an electrical engineer father and a mother who taught him to put his back into everything he did. He delivered newspapers and worked in a gas station when he was 15. At 17 he took a part-time job at Intel packing boxes. He then spent six months in the finance department working for the experience and no pay.

Neil landed a full-time job at the lowest level in the company in the Business Planning Department. So began a successful 37-year, globe-trotting career with Intel Corporation.

Practical Experience. Long Term Vision. Teamwork.

Much of Neil's career experience, with his numbers and customer service mentality, will be invaluable to the “customers” of Lake Oswego. From box packer to Finance Controller in Germany and eventually to Intel Vice President, he has managed an annual expense budget, a capital budget of around $10B per year, and a workforce far exceeding that of the city of Lake Oswego.

He has demonstrated extraordinary cost-cutting skills, delivering projects early and under budget while still delivering the capabilities each project required.

The Pull of Lake Oswego.

Neil is passionate about Lake Oswego, where he has spent almost half his life. Married for 42 years to Claire, his two children went to LO public schools, and 2 of his 4 grandchildren are now in LO schools.

Since retiring from Intel in 2018 Neil has juggled many things. He has consulted with a company that primarily builds wastewater treatment plants, advised a construction company building solar powered energy plants, and managed the building of 4 houses. He is no longer traveling with Intel and can commit the time needed to serve this great community of Lake Oswego.

Respecting Our Past. Shaping The Future.

A strategic long-term thinker, Neil Tunmore understands that this great little city has to prepare for some future changes that must be anticipated. He wants to get ahead of the changes not behind them.

He believes that public service requires transparency, financial responsibility, solving problems based on facts not politics, and making decisions that serve the long-term interests of the community as a whole. Neil's goal is to make sure responsible decisions are made which protect Lake Oswego as a long term asset with a lasting positive image.
